TRCC Awards Dinner

29 October 2024 | Hugh Fort
TRCC Awards Dinner

The great and good of TRCC have been rewarded for their excellence throughout the season.

Following another excellent season, club members headed to the Royal Oak for the annual Awards Night and Dinner.

Hosted and organised by Ian Evans, the event saw the club's stars of 2024 rewarded for their efforts over the course of the season.

Following an, er, interesting welcome from Club President James Fort (now 80) where he at least managed to get the date right, we went in the awards.

Second team captain Marc Teal went first, giving his award to Ben Nichols – one of the club’s outstanding young players.

Sunday Captain Hugh Fort gave his award to Neil Lancum, not one of the club’s outstanding young players but a top performer for the Friendly XI over the course of the season.

Departing First XI captain Stan Fritz gave his award via video to wicket-keeper batsman Prasanth Juluri.

Here are the awards in full:

·      Bowling, Ben Ackerman 29 wickets.

·      Batting: Ben Nichols, 435 runs

·      Top average: Chris Priddle, 35.

·      Bowling average: Noel Downes, 11

·      Most catches: Kieran Downes, 13

·      Champagne moment: Tealo’s 5 wickets vs Chaddleworth. Honorable mention for Andrew Jones magnificent one-handed grab for the Sundays.

·      Becks Blue: Chris Fort for the now legendary Meat Off debacle in Bristol

·      Players player: Marc Teal (who also came up with the idea…..)

·      The Duck Cup: Hugh Fort (He says all were 90mph inswinging Yorkers)

·      Chairman’s Award: Ian Evans

·      Most Valuable Player: Ben Nichols

·      Second XI Captain’s Award: Ben Nichols

·      First XI Captain’s Award: Prasanth Juluri

·      Sunday Captain’s Award: Neil Lancum

Chairman Simon Burr said:

“It was another great TRCC awards evening, and while it’s a bit unfair for Ben Nichols to win three awards, it shows us old codgers what we need to do next year to catch him. Well done to all the award winners and we look forward to the exciting change to the TVL in 2025. (Did I mention I’ve broken my back?)
